Budgets are tight around the state, and the City of Crookston is no different. When discussing the budget at a recent meeting, the topic turned to trash. Literally.

“The system we have now is becoming less and less viable,” Councilman Tom Jorgens commented. “A city-run garbage service makes sense when there’s 100 percent participation, where the system we have now you can kind of see the ending. It seems to me either we have that sort of thing (roll-out system) or go to a private garbage service that people pay for themselves. The system now doesn’t make any sense.”
