You can’t make this up. With crime on a dramatic rise in the largest city in Minnesota, the city of Minneapolis is offering police officers $30,000 in incentives to retire.
You read that correct: during an epidemic of crime, Minneapolis is attempting to balance its city budget by offering incentives to police officers to retire early.

“The city council heard public comment last week on the Minneapolis Police Department budget for 2021.
“More than 160 residents signed up for the public comment session, most of them asking for more officers on the streets.
“I don’t feel safe in my own city. I don’t go downtown to visit my brother anymore or go to breweries, not because of COVID, but because I don’t’ want to get mugged or car jacked. This is a very real fear,” one woman said.
