BABBITT: Library Gives Sculptor Her Largest Commission Thanks to Legacy Tax

“This is the largest commission I have received,” said welding artist Margie Iraci. The Babbitt Library recently commissioned Iraci for a series of pieces. Funding for the commission came from the taxpayer-funded Legacy Fund.

From the article:

“The Babbitt project has opened more possibilities for Iraci. The library staff in Virginia, Minn., has since contacted Iraci to create a similar wall piece to the lake scene for their building. The artwork will be installed during the town’s annual Land of the Loon Festival.”

“I am very happy with this,” Iraci said. “I feel fortunate.”

Unfortunately, many Minnesota taxpayers may not feel the same way.
