In case you missed it, last Saturday’s DFL Ward 10 endorsing convention in Minneapolis ended abruptly when fights broke out while incumbent city councilmember Aisha Chughtai began her endorsement speech.
Watch video here.
Rather than listening respectfully, delegates supporting her opponent, Nasri Warsame, began to chant and stormed the stage, causing melee and chaos, ending only when the convention was abruptly ended and several delegates were taken away to local hospitals.
Many of those DFLers present laid the blame squarely at the feet of challenger Nasri Warsami’s campaign manager, Abshir Omar.
Omar, of Minneapolis, was, according to news reports, a consultant for Feeding Our Future, the non-profit charged by federal officials for their role in what is reported to be the largest pandemic fraud case in American history. To date, government officials believe various Minnesota food serving sites bilked the government out of $250 million – funds targeted towards feeding needy children during the COVID-19 pandemic. Omar, a former union activist for the Communications Workers of America and others, as well as serving recently as Bernie Sanders’ Iowa political director, was working as a consultant for Feeding our Future when the Fed’s busted the non-profit.
After last Saturday’s Minneapolis convention melee, we learned that Omar was serving as campaign manager for the challenger to Councilmember Chughtai. News reports widely report that the campaign of Nasri Warsame’s supporters did nothing to stop the chaos and later blamed the violence on a “language barrier” since many of their delegates didn’t speak English.
It’s also important to note that Omar isn’t the only Minneapolis political official with ties to the Feeding our Future fraud. Included in the list of over 50 individuals indicted by federal officials include an aide to Mayor Jacob Frey as well as the former chair of the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority.
People often ask how the Minneapolis city council became so radical. Omar and his ilk are prime examples of the radical leftists that control the caucus (nominating) process in almost every precinct in the city. They have taken control of the city and will be responsible for its demise unless the grownups in the DFL force them out.
