FFM research was featured in the latest 5 Eyewitness News piece on a potential taxpayer funded fiber project in the Lake Minnetonka area. Tonkaconnect, the up to $81 million project slated for an August 16 vote by the Lake Minnetonka Communications Commission, would build a publicly funded fiber optic network to the area, even though multiple private providers are already in place.
From KSTP.com:
“Critics of the plan say government should not be in the business of broadband cable, because it’s too expensive. Three cities have already voted to not participate in the program, but supporters say they would not need every city to get the project done.”
