Remember this quote from another closing business when you hear Mayor Frey or other colleagues out of touch with the challenges faced by the city’s private sector businesses. Despite the mayor’s delusional approach, the “Downtown” is not “back.”
“There’s just a point in time where you’ve got to stop the bleeding,” said Steven Steakhouse & Sushi co-owner Erick Patterson, which announced last week they are closing. “The elements for success simply are not available in downtown Minneapolis, and haven’t been for a long time.”
Due to crime and anti-business mandates, the restaurant was forced to let 120 employees go.
“We’ve seen it get worse over the last couple of weeks with new added mandates. Downtown is not getting any better from a crime standpoint or from an interest level with clients coming back. We are just burning money at this point.”
Yep, Mayor Frey, downtown Minneapolis is realllly thriving.
