Appeals from Nicollet County residents are on the rise after recent property assessments in the area. The article from the Mankato Free Press cites the reason for the jump in valuations for several cities as an update in the software they use to assess the homes.
The article continued: “Among other things, the software calculates the cost of constructing a home using certain materials. A particular home built with those materials is then depreciated based on age and condition. High-quality materials mean a higher starting value, and the updated software reflects a jump in cost for some of those materials.”
