The Willmar Economic Development Commission voted unanimously last week to make the part-time Ag Specialists position a full-time one, salary and benefits included. According to the West Central Tribune, the position pays $45,000 plus benefits. Prior to the switch, the position was hourly with no benefits. Yet, officials acknowledge that the increase in wages is not covered in the budget and may require a property tax levy to sustain it in the future. While citizens are doing more with less in these tough economic times, it appears some are not.
