WORTHINGTON: County Cracks Down on Illegal Taxicabs Amid Subsidized Fare Increases

Increased gas prices hurt us all, Worthington taxi companies included. Now, the Worthington Taxi Service is passing on the increased prices onto the consumers. But its not just increased fuel prices that have led to fare increases.

According to the Worthington Daily Globe: Karen DeBoer, transit director with the Southwest Minnesota Opportunity Council said there have been some reports of people illegally operating a for-fare passenger service in Worthington. The city has an ordinance in place stating that anyone wanting to offer such a service must first get approval from the Joint Powers Transit Authority of Prairieland Transit Service.
